| Epupa Camp |
|
| In the far north of Kaokoland, east
of the Epupa Falls, lies Epupa Camp on the banks of the Kunene River.
This small luxury establishment offers visitors a relaxing yet exhilarating
stay with personalised service, excellent food and the seclusion
of a lush riverine wilderness. The camp comprises of 9 room-sized luxury
tents with en suite shower/WC, a wooden main building housing the |
 |
| dining
room and reception and a small beach-style
terrace overlooking the river. With its waving palms, spectacular sunsets
and perennial river, the Epupa area offers much to experience. |
| A guided excursion to one of the scattered
settlements of the Himba, a nomadic tribe of Herero descent who
still live and
dress according to ancient customs and traditions, is included for
overnight visitors. Other activities on offer are walks along the
river, bird watching, swimming in natural rock pools, sightseeing
of historic graves, sundowner excursions and rafting on the Kunene. |

 |
| Fort Sesfontein |
|
| In 1896, the government of what was
then South West Africa built the Fort of Sesfontein. Today, a century
later, the fort has been transformed into a comfortable lodge comprising
of 12 double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, a restaurant,
bar and fuel station. All the rooms are arranged around a central
court, which is a beautiful oasis-garden filled with palm trees. |
 |
| The fort is a gateway to the Kaokoland
and guided day tours of the fascinating area in 4x4
vehicles can be arranged. |
| |
|
| Ohakane Lodge |
|
| Ohakane Lodge is situated in the middle
of Opuwo, the gateway to the beautiful Kaokoland
and its people, the OvaHimba. The lodge has a restaurant, bar and
swimming pool. Accommodation: 13 bedrooms all with facilities
and air-conditioned. |

| Omarunga Camp |
|
| On the banks of the Kunene River,
only a short walk upstream from the spectacular Epupa Falls, lies
the Omarunga Camp. Hidden in the shade of the exotic Makalani palm
trees, this little paradise is definitely one of Namibia’s
most secluded getaways. Guests will be tempted to just relax and
absorb the breathtaking scenery of the mountains on the Angolan side
of the river and indulge themselves in the personal attention and
European style hospitality. Omarunga offers ten comfortable tents,
all separately located and fitted out with comfortable wooden beds,
tables and quality bed linen. Washbasins are located adjacent to
every individual tent, furthermore hot and cold showers are provided.

| Serra Cafema |
|
| Serra Cafema Camp is located in the
extreme north-west of Namibia and has to be the most remote camp
in Southern Africa.
The Okavango Delta in Botswana is closer to Windhoek than Serra Cafema
is to Windhoek. The camp's Portuguese name comes from the mountains
to the north that dominates the skyline. We share this region with
wonderful Himba people who are some of the last true nomadic |
 |
| people in Africa. The Kunene River
is the only permanent source of water in the whole region and the
river creates a lush oasis along its banks surrounded by rugged
mountains and sand dunes. |
| Under big, shady Albida trees you will
find a small, rustic and peaceful camp with all the comforts in fully
furnished
Meru tents with bathroom facilities. The camp's six tents
are raised off the ground. The camp has a small swimming pool, dining
room and bar. The camp is located just inland from the Atlantic Ocean
and the Skeleton Coast. The cool winds that blow from the Atlantic
help to keep the camp cool |
 |
| even in summer. We spend time in breathtaking
landscape scenes in the Hartmann Valley, to the south of the camp,
with herds of springbok, ostrich and even leopard. We traverse
sand dunes on 4x4 safaris and boat on the Kunene River that becomes
the focus for the area. On the boat trips, one can watch Kunene crocodiles
basking the riverbanks. Walking trails in the remote mountain and
river valleys will always be a highlight for those who enjoy foot
safaris. Serra Cafema is often visited by the native Ovahimba families
who live in the nearby vicinity which give the guests the opportunity
to learn all about their lifestyles and traditions. |
