Namibian Hiking Trails
Naukluft Trail
is a 120km trail to be completed in 8 days, or the first part in 4 days. Due to climatic conditions, the trail is open from
the 01st March till third Friday in October only. Camping facilities and water are available at the stopover points. Groups
have to consist of a minimum of 3 and maximum 12 persons and must provide their own food and equipment.
Fish River Canyon Hike starts from the main viewpoint near Hobas and ends at Ai-Ais, is one of
the truly unique trails in the world. It is approximately 80km long, taking 4 to 5 days to complete and is open from the
15th April till the 15th September. Groups should comprise a minimum of 3 and maximum 40 persons.
Ugab River Hiking Trail is one of the best ways to explore some of the mysteries of the Skeleton
Coast Park on this guided hike along the Ugab river valley. Groups consist of 6 to 8 people from April till October.
The trail is 50km long and is completed in 3 days. |

Rhino Tracking in Damaraland
The desert adapted black rhino surviving in the Kunene Region in
the north-west of Namibia are the only rhino world-wide that have survived on communal land with no formal
conservation status. In the early 1980’s the rhino numbers shrank to extinction, and Save The
Rhino Trust was born. Since the Trust was formed, collaboration with the Government and the local community has
been achieved, with the aim to provide security for the rhino, to monitor the population in the region and to bring
benefit to the community through conservation and tourism. Various overnight walks in the Ugab region and Palmwag
can be undertaken with the SRT staff, tracking amongst others - the black rhino. |
