Beach & Offshore Fishing covers
the area from Sandwich Harbour south of Walvis Bay northward up to
Terrace Bay
in the Skeleton Coast Park. The towns of Walvis Bay, Swkopmund and
Henties Bay are perfect gateways for all your fishing expeditions
at the Atlantic Ocean. The cold Benguela current contributes to the
rich fish population in the West Coast region. The following species
can be caught - kabeljou, steenbras, blacktail, barbel, galjoen,
garrick, and various shark species, from sand sharks to spotted gully
sharks, with the ultimate challenge undoubtedly being the Copper
Shark of which specimens of 100 kg plus are regularly landed.

The north-eastern parts of Namibia
namely the Kavango and Caprivi regions consist of a network of rivers.
The relatively
high rainfalls created a fertile, green environment filled with swamps,
forests, and flood plains.
A wide variety of fish including the popular
tiger fish offer a challenge to
the sport-fishing fan. Generally fishing is good all year round, with the best
times being October to
April. |
